Marathon Relay Race Info
Come be a part of the Tucson Marathon and share the distance with three friends!
REGISTRATION FOR THE 2012 TUCSON MARATHON OPENS ON FEBRUARY 1st!
Starts: Sunday, December 9, 2012 – 7:30 a.m.
A Marathon Relay team can be comprised of 2-4 runners. Awards will be broken down into the following divisions: All Female; All Male, Coed.
Enjoy beautiful Tucson winter weather with temperatures at the start averaging in the high 30s reaching 65-70 degrees by 11 a.m.
Packet Pick-up
The Tucson Marathon Expo will be held on Friday, December 7 (1:00-7:00p.m.) and Saturday, December 8 (9:00a.m.-5:00p.m.) at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador, 10000 N. Oracle Rd. Race packet pick-up and walk-in registration will be available.
You will need to pick up the following items:
• Bib # with chip
• Technical T-shirt
• Packet (goodie bag will be for your drop clothes on race morning)
• Relay baton and Parking Permit (Marathon Relay only)
Note: Copies of the following will be available at the Expo:

2) General Parking and Transportation
3) Details of relay information (relay points, maps, parking and transportation)
4) Detailed Race Day Information
However we strongly recommend that all runners access these PDF docs on the web site, and fully familiarize themselves with any/all details well in advance of race weekend.
Race-Day Information : No race day registration or packet pick-up is available. The team member running the first relay leg must take a shuttle bus to the official marathon starting line; other team members can go directly to the next relay exchange on the course. The Marathon Relay course closes at 1:30 p.m.
NOTE: Relay runners other than the team member running the first relay are responsible for their own transportation and MUST follow any/all parking regulations.
IMPORTANT: For the safety of everyone, all competitors must stay inside of the safety cones at all times. Anyone who runs outside of the cones will be disqualified. NO EXCEPTIONS! Baby Joggers/Strollers ARE NOT allowed on the course at any time.

Some additional copies will be available at the Expo, but we strongly urge all relay runners to become fully familiar with this important information by accessing our reference PDF docs (click here) well in advance of race day, and printing their own copies if needed for reference. Each team will receive a baton with a parking permit at the Expo.
Each Team will run distances as follows:
1st Leg = 6.1 Miles – exchange across from the Circle K on American Ave & Rockliffe Blvd;
2nd Leg = 6.6 Miles – exchange on the Biosphere Rd, near the intersection of Madison (on the return leg to Hwy#77).
3rd leg = 6.6 Miles – exchange at Oracle Jct (across from Lupe’s restaurant)- Hwy 77 & Hwy 80;
4th leg = 6.9 Miles to Finish Line
Team Awards include top three teams in male, female & coed divisions. All relay runners will receive a T-shirt and finisher’s medallion.
POWERADE is the official drink at aid stations this year.
Please park in designated areas or you will be subject to ticketing or towing.
