Race Day Info

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY PRIOR TO THE RACE (updated 11/15/07)

Welcome to the Holualoa Tucson Marathon, Damascus Bakeries Half Marathon and the Marathon Relay. In an effort to make your experience as positive as possible, here is some information that should help you prepare for race day. Please share the parking and traffic rules with your family and friends as they will need to adhere to these guidelines. If they don't, we risk not being able to have this event next year.

PARKING
Information on parking will be available at the Expo and in the Runners' Packets. Get there early to be assured a spot!!!

There will be no parking at the start of the marathon or the half marathon. Runners must take the buses to the start of both races.

Relay runners (except for lead runner) must provide their own transportation to each of the relay stations.

Parking is available for the half marathoners at Ventana Medical. Buses will pick up runners for the marathon and half marathon at Ventana Medical.

To reach Ventana Medical (from Tucson) go north on Oracle Road to Tangerine Road (light), turn left (west) and turn right at the first traffic light (Innovation Park Drive) just before Northwest Hospital. Go up the hill, past the hospital, about half a mile and park on the right at the first building you come to (Ventana Medical). If the lot is full, there are plenty of open fields beyond it for parking.  Buses will pick up runners at the entrance to Ventana Medical.

Shuttle buses will pick up runners and return them to Ventana Medical after the race. The Tucson Marathon is not responsible for any items left in vehicles or damage done to vehicles at Ventana Medical.

BUSES
Wear warm clothing on the bus and remember your Runner's World drop bag that you picked up at the Expo! Buses will leave Ventana Medical (half marathon) and (marathon & first relay runner) beginning at 5:00 a.m. Do not wait until the last bus (approximately 5:45 a.m.) as we cannot guarantee there will be space available.

MARATHON DROP BAGS
Each runner will be provided with a Runner's World drop bag, available at the EXPO. Please put all of your belongings in the bag, clearly write your bib number and last name on the bag and deposit in the appropriate window of the Drop Bag Bus (which will be labeled by bib number) at the start of the race. The Drop Bag Buses will be the first 3 buses at the start of the event. You may pick up your bag at the finish line after the race. All bags not picked up by 3 p.m. will be picked up by race officials. On Wednesday, December 5, all clothes not picked up will be donated to charity. If you fail to pick up your bag on race day, call the Marathon Hotline (520) 320-0667 prior to December 3 to make arrangements to pick up your belongings.

PORTA-POTTIES
There will be porta-potties at the start of each of the races and at all relay locations. There will also be porta-potties available along the Marathon course at the following locations: Circle K in Oracle (mile 6.1), Biosphere Road (mile 10.3 and 13.7), Oracle Jct (mile 19.3), Saddlebrook Rd (mile 21.6), Eagle Crest (mile 22.4) and Basha's (mile 24.5).

RACE DAY PHOTOS
Greetings from your friends at MarathonFoto!

Marathon Foto will be at the event taking photos to record your achievement. After the race, you will be sent an email link to your photos once they are available for viewing.

Good luck and remember to do two things:
1)Smile when you see the photographers!
2)Make sure your bib number is clearly centered and visible so we will be able to identify you after the race.

You can also log onto www.marathonfoto.com  to register for notification when your photos are available for viewing, or you can log on a couple of days after the race to see them.
